About Me
Carissa Gorman
Speech Pathologist
I'm a certified practicing speech pathologist who enjoys building relationships with clients and their families.
I have a very relaxed style and refer to myself as a “get on the floor speechie”, due to the needs of many of my clients.
I have experience across a range of communication disorders, swallowing and feeding issues and I have a particular interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder and early language development.
I strive to partner effectively with parents and carers to ensure positive results for my clients.
I'm committed to on-going professional development and have post-graduate training in the areas of swallowing disorders, feeding issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and management of clients with challenging behaviours.
As part of my degree, I completed a 2-year research project in the area of early literacy education in mainstream classrooms. I'm passionate about early literacy, qualified to instruct parents in the Read to Grow program and I'm an inclusion support advocate for children with disability to attend mainstream schooling.
In addition to being a speech pathologist, I'm married and mother to 3 beautiful children.
I have extensive knowledge relating to Autistic Spectrum Disorders both in a professional capacity and personally.
My life experience as a mum to two boys with Autistic Spectrum Disorder provides a source of inspiration, motivation, empathy, and capacity for understanding people with a disability and those who love them.
I'm an advocate for inclusive practice and equal educational opportunity and am passionate about early functional communication.
Collaboration and teamwork are standard practice at Promise Speech Pathology. I strive to stay in touch with other providers assisting you or your loved one in achieving your goals.
